Each presentational skit is performed in such a manner as to allow the observer insight into a real life situation.  For instance, we can all relate to the stress around the Thanksgiving table, when a loved one lets us down, or the struggles that the stressful Christmas holiday bring to our personal lives. Or maybe it's a skit involving a good friend or spouse that we haven't been fair to or openly communicated with.  Each scenario is purposefully adapted to reach out and get our attention.
