How Real Hope got started… In October 1997 Glenn Herschberger attended “Stand in
the Gap”, a Solemn Assembly in Washington D.C. on the Mall with a million other
men. At that event, Glenn was lead by God to go into full-time vocational
ministry. In August 1999, the Herschbergers moved the entire family to a great
little neighborhood in the wonderful town of Lake Mills, Wisconsin. In October
1999, a home fellowship group began meeting in their home and from there the
core leadership group developed for the launching of Real Hope. During the
summer of 2000, Real Hope Community Church held three practice services in the
Herschberger’s garage.

The first one held in May had 47 people show up. It was
a great time of fellowship and friendship making. From there, Real Hope had
three "pre-launch" services in September. We had a total of 227 visitors check
us out during those three weeks. Ever since then we continue to see new faces
each week. It is our prayer that we will continue to reach out into this
community and touch the lives of people with a message of hope. Ephesians 3:20,
"More than we could ask or dream!"
